This recipe collection is based on tried and tested recipes enjoyed by the Newton family living in Switzerland. It is inspired by travel, recipes collected from magazines, some of Delia Smith's bakes and old favourites. Happy eating!

Day 14
I just added the recipe for our Sunday roast chicken with green vegetables, peas, mashed potatoes and gravy. I just need to find the photo of the wine we drank with the meal. Hope you enjoy it; it's one of my favourites.

Day 11
I have just added the recipe for baked sea bass to the Main Dishes page. We enjoyed it last night, as Saturday is a good day to buy fresh fish here. Thalwil Migros has a great choice and helpful staff. In the summer months they also sell samphire, a salty vegetable which grows on marshes in Norfolk, UK, and also in Brittany. It's easy and quick to serve.
Richard went into the cellar for a Sauvignon Blanc selection and found one from Moevenpick. He's also the chief fish chef. I do the veg and taste the wine.
Tonight we're having roast chicken which is probably my signature dish. We love it garnished with lemon zest and thyme, and enjoy eating it with mashed potatoes and peas, carrots or cabbage with cumin.

Day 9
I added Boeuf Bourguignon today to Main Dishes. We enjoyed it at the weekend.
I tried to make all the page sub-headings match but it didn't really work. We had to amend the HTML, which is annoying.
Tonight we ate quorn chilli with guacamole, refried beans and rice. Should I write it up?

Day 8
I added Hot Cross Buns to the Baked Goods section. I hope I got the quantities right, as we always use dried yeast, and we can't get currants in Switzerland so just use sultanas or raisins.
Richard helped me sort out some of the font styles, as it's tricky to match the template effect with the composed text, especially in the subheadings.
Today we made aubergine parmigiana which I might add next. It tastes very nice.

Day 5
Today I added the recipes for English Scones, Mince Pies and Salmon en Croute to sections of Main Dishes and Baked Goods. Have a look - see links on the right.
Trying to keep the same font style is quite tricky, and I haven't numbered the recipes yet. Still thinking about that.
Any suggestions for what to do next? A soup, or a dessert perhaps?

Day 4
On Sunday for dinner we had boeuf bourguignon. It tasted delicious, but I can't take any of the credit. Richard cooked it using a Delia recipe. We used pieces of more tender beef than Delia suggested. We added small onions, which took quite a while to cook, and brown button mushrooms. It was served with fresh green beans and new potatoes, and more of the red wine, actually an Australian Cabernet Shiraz. Maybe another trip to Burgundy is called for.

Day 2
Today I found lots of food photos and put them all into a folder. They have inspired me to add a few more classic recipes to my list.
Tonight we had savoury and sweet pancakes. That will be my next recipe. It's a tried and tested old family recipe. We had ricotta and spinach pancakes first, followed by lemon, sugar and chocolate. Both were delicious.
Have a look here for the pancake options: Main dishes

Day 1
Today I started this blog by adding the first recipe in the section Starters. I chose Tomato and Pepper Soup which we had for dinner last night. Click on the link Starters on the right to see this section.
I also set up a folder of food photos to use here. It's still a work in progress.
